Hi everyone. This may be a little long but if you could please read through it and give me your input it would really help.

Ive been mountain bike riding for about 2-3 months now.
Im more of a heavyset guy: 6′ 250-260 lbs.
We do a 14 mile ride. (7 miles of climbing and 7 back down)
Ive been losing fat and gaining muscle.
I drink 5 hour energy drinks before rides.
I do not smoke.
Lately my allergies have been acting up.(Stuffy/runny nose, congestion etc.)
I ride a well equipped mountain bike and use a camelbak.

Now that you have the facts…heres the story:

The first month of riding was difficult as you could imagine because I was in terrible shape. Then after the worst was out of the way I made great strides and could climb 7 miles like nothing it was great. But recently things have gotten hard. Just after a few miles of climbing it gets really hard to breathe and makes me short of breath and the need to cough. This has taken a toll on my endurance and stamina and made my riding very frustrating in the end.

Ive tried taking mucinex, allergy medication, eating differently, and different riding techniques but nothing has worked so far. I was wondering if anyone had this problem or if anyone has any input on how to get back to the way I was.

Thank you for your time :)
**Do you really think it could be asthma because it didnt happen before and you think i wouldve noticed it before.**

Hi, long-time mountain biker here, love single track and downhill. I love to ride, but I’m not fully obsessed and not able to bike a ton.

I am looking for a new full suspension, all terrain mountain bike that can climb well (ie lighter?). I’m looking for something between $1500 and $2000 range, and i’m wondering if anyone had any recommendations. I currently have a K2 Launch 4.0 full suspension. It’s a decent downhill bike, but kind of heavy, and the bushings are corrupted, and it’s about 7 years old or so. Looking for something new. Any thoughts appreciated. I guess bottom line i’m looking for a good mid-level bike. Nothing crazy expensive, but nothing too cheap.

It doesn’t happen if I just spin the wheels by hand, it doesn’t happen just when moving the crank by hand. It doesn’t even happen pedalling lightly at low gear. This only happens when I stand to pedal or when I’m in a higher gear. The noise gets worse and happens more often per pedal when there’s a lot of resistance, ie. switching rapidly to a high gear, climbing a steep hill, standing and starting from cold. I’ve already tightened my seat and pedals.

I had a question on this already but need to repost to clarify.

I have an alum mt bike hart tail.

When I climb uphill sometimes my rear tire rubs against the left side of my rear frame.

The odd thing is if i flip the bike upside down and shake the wheel, there is no play in it left to right at all so it’s not the bearing cones or the bottom bracket as someone suggested earlier.

The one thing I did notice is that the quick release skewer looked stripped where the skewer clamps down on the frame.

The frame also looked stripped.. there were no teeth where the QR should clamp down on the frame.

I am thinking that the fact the skewer isn’t biting down firmly on the frame is causing the movement when i’m straining on the uphills?

Will getting a new skewer fix this? I’m wondering that if the frame itself is stripped in terms of where the skewer bites down then is there something I need to do to fix the frame as well? It’s just flat and getting thin where the skewer clamps down.

Hi,

I’m about to buy a new suspension fork for my Giant XTC hardtail. I race cross country. I’m just wondering if the terralogic lock-out feature really works that well.

If you rapidly go from a smooth climb to a rocky decent will the fork come out of lock-out mode fast enough?

The last thing I want is to hit a hard bumb with a rigid front end…!!

Thanks

Ok i have been tryin for like a month now and i still cant do bunyhops…this really annoys me as some of the runs i go down have huge roots and logs (some i need to get off and climb over) but this could all be avoided if i could hop over them… can some one explain to me in detail and/or a decent video…i really need help as this is apparently a key feature of mountain biking
