Hey everyone I currently use some Specialized Eskar tires. They are nice, pretty good grip overall but Im looking for something a bit better. I do cross country riding mainly with some steep climbs, some steep downhills, and all that good stuff. My Eskars havent even been used up all the way and they are starting to lose traction really easy and make me mess up on my climbs. I do admit that I have had them for about 6 months and ride the shit out of my bike. Anyone know some good mountain bike tires with killer grip that last long and wont break the bank? Ive previously had WTB Motoraptors which were also very good. As for reliability, the Eskars have really been good with no flats ever!
let me know some good suggestions please!
Must have full zippers on the sides. Must be size medium and under $55.
I would love to find one of the ones below on ebay used or at a $50 or under price.
Something lightweight, waterproof, yet very light.
Here are 2 that I tried on and that fit well:
1 – The northface shell pants. Model: Model aap9001-m (venture side zip pant black) Size=Med ($89 bucks at the North face store)
2 – Mountain Harware – Epic Pant size-med ($80 bucks at Neptune Mountaineering)
Thanx in advnce
This summer I’ll be climbing Shasta, Hood, and Rainier, but I’ll also be backpacking for a good amount. I’m HOPING to not have to get two different pairs of boots. I saw in an outside magazine gear guide that the Salomon Proton Mid GTX was a good “Peak bagging” boot (crampon compatible), but every other sort of guide of seen seems to claim that Rainier needs a more serious boot. I’ll be on the mountain in July and can afford to wait for optimal weather conditions. Can I get away with a boot like the Proton? Do I need to go plastic? Any advice at all will help…

Hi,
In May, I’ll be attempting the Three Peaks Challenge along with five others from my school on behalf of the COINS Foundation, a charity. What is a good fitness program for a 16-year old? I’m 6’3 and athletic ;D
Also, anything else I should know?
P.S. For those who don’t know, the 3PC is attempting to climb three mountains in England, Scotland and Wales in 24 hours.
Thanks in advance!
I was going to try a Mount McKinley mountaineering school but was told that was way out of my league to climb something that high. Does anyone know a good place to go that preferably teaches you or guides you up the mountain. I am talking full-blown ice climbing with crampons and ice-picks. I was thinking somewhere near the washington-california-oregon-colorado area. Basically the rockies.
